Book Review: It Takes a Spy by Sheridan Jeane

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It Takes a Spy is a nice, quick read filled with intrigue and a bit of romance. The writing was clear and crisp, and the story moved along nicely-I was able to read this in one sitting of a couple of hours.

I really liked Cecelia and Devin's characters, they were so sweet together, both of them in love with the other yet both with their own doubts about what would happen after they wed. Cecelia is a wonderfully strong female character for that time period, as was her sister Evangeline. It's always refreshing to have such strong female characters in a historical romance! And Devin-protective, loving, caring and understanding-Cecelia is a lucky woman indeed as it is easy to see that he is completely devoted to her.

There is a good mystery to be solved, resulting in some suspense and action that easily drive the storyline along, and keeps you interested through the entire story. Their wedding night in the epilogue almost seems like an afterthought, but still adds a nice touch so we can see Cecelia and Devin's story through.

A solid 4-star read, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes historical romance with a bit of suspense.
